History
On
December 10, 1980, Larry and Nanci Donald published their
first issue of Basketball Times as the magazines' editor,
publisher, and Vice President, after the official transfer
of ownership from Starpointe Publishing Corporation of New
York to LN Publications of Detroit.
Larry laid out what he hoped to provide his readers -
information and people. He promised to "get you thinking
about your favorite sport" and his expectation was that
his new publication "would become known as the Bible of
Basketball." After Larry Donald died of an apparent
heart attack in November 2000,
Nanci Donald continued to run Basketball Times. John Akers
was named
managing editor in September 2001.
